So...
years ago (25+), at a wilderness camp in the mountains of the northeast, I was introduced to woodburning (pyrography).

Over the years I've burned a lot of wood.

I love this… love the way wood smells when it burns… love the zen mindset that sets in with deep concentration when it’s just you and the wood… love to see the way people get excited about a design that is one-of-a-kind and done custom for them.

I have a bunch of stuff kicking around right now, and I'm also producing new stuff as well. Most of the designs I've created recently are inspired by the contemplative life and my ongoing process of formation with the Lay Cistercians of Gethsemani Abbey in Kentucky.

I work mostly with poplar and oak, and recently a little pine. All pieces are 100% handcrafted and unique. I also custom-blend stains for "color work". All come with a sawtooth bracket on the back so that it may be hung on a wall.

I set up this little blog site as a way for folks to view what's available and to contact me to obtain one. 80% of each sale will go to either the LCG or directly to the Abbey of Gethsemani. I will retain 20% to cover my material costs.

The large 2-panel piece at the top of this page is 2'x2' poplar...based on a piece of art by by Japanese printmaker Sadao Watanabe...Jesus washing one of the disciple's feet. I would sell something like this for approximately $70 (plus shipping).
